Answers for housing teams

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about investigating housing conditions, capturing evidence on site and producing consistent reports with Awaab Comply.

Product & fit

What is Awaab Comply?

Awaab Comply is a mobile app designed to help social housing landlords investigate damp, mould and wider housing condition hazards quickly and consistently, with thorough documentation. It brings guided investigations, evidence capture and report generation into one workflow.

Who is Awaab Comply for?

Housing associations, local authorities, ALMOs, compliance and disrepair teams, damp and mould officers, in-house surveyors, repairs teams and housing operations leaders.

Does it work for in-house teams?

Yes. In-house surveyors and operational teams can follow a guided process and produce structured outputs from the information gathered during a visit.

What devices does it work on?

Awaab Comply works on iOS and Android phones and tablets. Ask us about the setup and devices suitable for your team during your demo.

Investigations & evidence capture

What information does the app capture?

Property details, observations, photographs, measurements, environmental information, notes and other investigation data. Temperature, relative humidity, dew point, surface temperatures and ventilation observations can form part of the record.

Can we attach photographs?

Yes. Photographic evidence is captured and attached within the workflow as part of the investigation.

Does the app help prevent missing information?

Mandatory completion of required fields helps reduce incomplete records and minimise rework. Inspectors remain responsible for deciding what evidence and further investigation are needed.

Reporting & outputs

What kind of report does Awaab Comply produce?

A structured report with supporting evidence, designed for internal review and external scrutiny. Outputs include a narrative report and Scott Schedule.

Can we generate the report on site?

Yes. Generate and download the report on your phone or tablet, often before leaving the property. This reduces the delay caused by post-visit write-ups.

Is the summary AI-generated?

AI-assisted reporting helps organise the captured information into consistent summaries and reduce manual administration. The responsible professional checks the findings and reviews the report before issue.

Can we download a PDF?

Yes. Reports can be generated and downloaded in PDF format for review and sharing.

Awaab’s Law & compliance

How does Awaab Comply support compliance?

The app supports consistent investigations, evidence capture and documentation. Legal compliance ultimately depends on your organisation’s processes, decisions, response times and actions, as well as the records it keeps.

Can it support investigations beyond damp and mould?

Awaab Comply supports investigation and reporting workflows for wider housing condition hazards. Discuss the hazard types, evidence and outputs your organisation needs during your demonstration.

How does it help with audits or scrutiny?

A clearer, more consistent investigation record helps teams explain their findings, the supporting evidence and the actions they recommend. Maintain the appropriate organisational records of decisions, actions and outcomes alongside your reports.

Inspector requirements & equipment

Do inspectors need formal qualifications?

The guided workflow can support in-house housing teams with relevant building knowledge. Inspectors need the knowledge, training and competence appropriate to the hazards they assess; the app does not replace specialist expertise where required.

What equipment is required?

A smartphone or tablet, a damp meter and an anemometer are typical starting points, with PPE where required. Additional equipment and expertise will depend on the investigation.

How much training is needed?

The workflow is guided and designed for practical on-site use. We’ll cover setup and best practice during onboarding and demonstrations, and discuss the training needs of your team.

Onboarding & operations

How quickly can we get started?

The workflow is designed for straightforward adoption. Implementation timescales depend on team size, case volume and your organisation’s requirements.

What support do you provide?

Support and implementation options depend on your package. We’ll discuss what your team needs to get set up and use the workflow effectively.

Can we discuss back-office visibility and case tracking?

Yes. Tell us what your managers need to review, how cases are currently tracked and any reporting or procurement requirements. We’ll walk through the available workflow and agree the scope with you.

Pricing & procurement

How is pricing determined?

Pricing is tailored to team size, case volume, reporting needs and operational requirements. Book a demo or request pricing so we can recommend the right fit.

Are there long contracts?

We offer contract options to suit different organisational requirements, including longer-term agreements. Contract length and cancellation terms will be confirmed in your quotation and agreement.

Can we start small and scale?

Yes. Discuss a smaller initial rollout and how it could expand across your teams as the workflow becomes established.

Can we see it before committing?

Yes. Book a personalised demonstration to see the workflow and example outputs, and discuss any trial or pilot options.

Data, security & procurement

Is our data secure?

We take data protection seriously. If you have specific security or procurement requirements, contact us and we’ll provide the relevant information.

Where can we get data protection information?

Email [email protected] with your organisation’s requirements so we can provide the relevant privacy, security and procurement information.
